My review is from the perspective of my specific needs and how it worked for me so here it is:- NOT VERY BIG AND BULKY - this is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Shopping for a fan for a small one panel bathroom window mainly, with option to use in any other window. I needed something that is relatively small, not super big and I did not need a hurricane like power of the fan either. The fan is about 7 or so inches high tops 8 but I am guessing.. In any case.. it does not overpower the window or room, it is nice and rather forgiving as far as the visual impact and what is important to me, it is light and small so I dob't have to struggle to put it in or take out as needed.- EASY TO PUT IN THE WINDOW AND REMOVE - that is really non-process. You just open the window, pull our the accordion like extension to cover the entire width of the window frame and it is really super easy to do. Then you just position it in the open window frame and close the window down all the way till it touches the top of the fan. Done. The whole process takes maybe a minute or under once you get a hang of it. It is light and perfect so I can carry it easily in one hand. To take it out of the window.. you just open the window sliding up the panel.. then take it out and you can either push back the accordion extension or set it wherever you want with the extension left as is.- I USE IT IN MY BATHROOM WINDOW - to take the moisture out super fast. I don't like when the steam hangs in the air and the vent alone just does not do job good enough. I am not going to bother now in the midst of epidemic and worry about the vent so this is perfect solution. Once set in the window and turned on it sucks all the moisture in no time. I don't keep it in the window as I don't need it beyond this situation.- THE AIR POWER - This fan is naturally bit less powerful then the double fan big window fans that I also have one of. However, note to the wise - when you use TOO strong fan to push your indoor air, you must be very careful to follow recommendations. Just like with the kitchen exhaust that pulls x amount of the air from the house along with the smells you have to follow the rules of physics and recomendations. If the air vent is too strong then you push a lot of indoor air with it and the trade off is that you also maypull some gasses from the furnace and what not.. so you need to be careful as this can somehow endanger you and your family by creating some adverse air condition. To avoid this you have to check the fan power and capacity of air removal per minute or so.. You can call google this Or ask the seller for recommendation. To avoid any hazard I never run the big fans on full speed for a long time but rather on lower speeds for longer. This particular fan is gentle and it does help perfectly with air exchange as not only you can push out the air but also reverse or have some fans going one way and some another.Best rule of thumb is to have two fans in the house and while one is exhausting the air the other would pull out the air in that way you avoid the potentially unsafe situation of low pressure build up in the house.Possibly opening some other window might help but I don't know if this is sufficient recommendation. I would research this thoroughly. I usually do run other fan somewhere so I don't really run into any extremes. It is great fan to push your air out of the house, it is also great to pull fresh air in fast. This is important because oftentimes you want to get air in fast and it is often impossible if the outdoor pressure is lowerthen inside the house or even in both places, there is no inward draft then and so the outdoor airdoes not get inside much without the wind pushing it from outside. This fan does the trick. It just sucks your air super fast and you can enjoy it in no time. The portability of this fan is super important to me, I can easily take it form room to room.. from window to window as needed. and if I want to I can also use it as a stand alone fan without putting it in the window at all. I don't need this much but occasionally I had situation when I wanted a painted surface to dry here or there and so I could set it up as I wanted and had a lot of air blowing at it fast.It can help your indoor air to circulate on one of the lower speeds if you wish, you can place it in an area of the house really.. window or no window. Just prop it against something so it stands solid and out of the traffic area so nobody bumps it or no pets can knock it down.I was happy to see that it did not have any smells upon arrival. Smell is a big thing to me. I don't like any new chemical smells so It is crucial that an item is free of them upon arrival. It was just perfect, no smells whatsoever.Last thing to note is that when I am not using it and not in the window, I can set it gently on the floor below the window or I can put it vertically on a shorter end and lean against the wall under the window curtain so it is perfectly concealed.I HIGHLY recommend it. It gets a lot of mileage in my house. We use it often and we find many uses for it.I was debating between the light color and black color and I personally like the lighter one because it does not bring attention to it. I find this just a utility device and not necessarily an element of decor so I seek things that blend in as such. However if you for some reason like the fan to be black to blend in with your particular decor or you find it more modern or like it to be more visible then go for it obviously. I am just adding in case you would be debating the color and would get stuck on lack of perspective on the issue. Perhaps this can help you to decide.IN any case, If you need a light reliable and prefect window fan for frequent use then you should try it.Also.. a closing tip.. like all or most fans this does not come with a timer. In case you would like it to run for prescribed amount of time I would suggest to buy either analog or digital outlet timer that cost few dollars and is easy to find on amazon and just plug it into the outlet and then plug this fan into it and thenyou will be free to set the time to any duration you wish so it will turn itself off as needed.FIFVE STARS AND VERY HAPPY WITH IT!!!!- YOU CAN REVERSE THE FLOW -but that is not with the flip switch, you need to physically flip the device which also is not a problem , easy peasy.- FLUID REGULATION OF SPEED is pretty neat as you can adjust the speed as you like. That is much better option then having only two three or four speeds.- PICK HOW MANY FANS YOU WANT ON OR OFF - you can have just one, two or all three on or off situation respectively. Just look at the product pictures and you will see the options. When installed to take in air from outside, it's thin enough on the back that the window screen need not be removed. However if you wanted to expel hot air outside, you have to reverse the fan and because of that it protrudes more so it necessitates removing the window screen. If the unit had a switch that reverses the rotation of the fan, reversing the fan physically will not be necessary and more convenient to select between taking in fresh air, or expelling inside hot air amd not have to remove the window screen. Since it did not have the switch to reverse the fan rotation, I only gave it 4 stars. All other features were good, the number of fans, the amount of air it moves, etc.The truth is I expected a little more from this fan, I would have liked it to blow more air, during the day it doesn't even feel like it, but actually I want it for the night, so I'm not going to say what I expected. It is easy to install, except that I need it vertically, and I lacked a space to fill the hole, I had to put a piece of cardboard. So I got this window fan for my office. These space has my video games system, PC, etc. I work and game here. As you could imagine, running all of these electronics produce a lot of heat. I was looking for something that could exhaust some of this heat to cool the room down without having to use AC. This room has its own AC unit, as it's an add-on room and not originally part of the house.Out of the box, the unit is new. I address this because some of the reviews cite damaged products or used products. The fans spin fast. With that, there is some noise but it's not noise you couldn't just tune out. It's regular fan noises you would hear with any fan. It blows hard/fast, which is good. You can use it either to blow air from the window, or flipping it over, you can exhaust air out of the room. Biggest issue with this is the design of the unit. The main part is off center, which means it only sits comfortably in the window in one direction. You can see this in the pictures. Once I flip it around to use the exhaust, it's no longer flush unless I take off the screen, which I don't want to do.This unit extends. However, the max length is 3ft or 36inches. Unfortunately, my window is 44inches long. And that is my bad for not looking at that before purchasing. The cable is 6ft long. Knowing this, I still set it up to at least attempt to exhaust some of the hot air to cool the room. The room was 91F and after about 1 hour of running, I have a temp of 90F. I have two other fans blowing/circulating air as well. It's a strong fan, but it doesn't seem to cool my room effectively. Keep in mind though, that this fan isn't covering my whole window, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. It might work better if you're using it to blow air from the outside as opposed to an exhaust fan. Also the sides do not sit flush to the window closing itself as you can see in the photos. The extension lock is only on one side so the other side kind of hangs there and tries to retract back into the unit. Should probably have a lock on both sides to avoid this.Unfortunately, this unit doesn't work for my needs so I will be returning it.It is great for night use when the air is cool outside. I noticed I turned off my AC since this Bionaire fan bringing air from outside along with my regular room fan were actually cooling the room at night. I bought the manual model not the automatic. But if the air outside is hot, like on a hot day, then the fan will just blow hot air into the room, so you'd need to use the AC at daytime and this fan on the cool summer nights, in a hot room. The fan will bring very cool to cold air if you live around places that are near the beach and get a cool breeze.Better stock on a couple of these since Bionaire now makes ionizers and they stopped manufacturing this fans.I was very pleased when I received this window fan. Came in a day earlier. Size is perfect for my window. I had a bigger dual fan like the Holmes fan on Amazon that lasted me forever but really was time to change it. I use a window fan in my office to expulse air out, not in. The smaller Bionaire fans are quieter and seem more efficient. You can use 1 fan only or 2 or the 3 fans simultaniously with the fan control button or slider. What I somewhat disliked is that the only way to reverse the airflow is to turn the fan around. You can't reverse air flow with the controls. Unfortunately just 3 or 4 days later, the middle fan started to be very noisy. To the point that I only use 2 out of the 3 fans on the unit. I didn't keep the packaging so I won't return it but will tape up the middle fan. I don't think they are of questionable quality. I may have been unlucky with this unit. If it wasn't for the noisy middle fan this would have been a 5 star rating. If you purchase one like this, keep the packaging for a little while just in case.First off 0 Stars. This piece of landfill came broken in a box that looked like it was run over. When filling out the return label I realized that it was shipped from across the border and I was responsible for return shipping which would cost close to the price of the unit. Instead of sending it back I took it apart and repaired this supposedly new item. The problem was that one of the fans was not screwed down into the case and was lying loose inside, obviously unable to rotate.Aside from the fact the fan came broken, the design is trash. To reverse the fan direction you have to rotate the entire unit. It has controls on each side (so you can operate it from outside if you want lol) Somehow this was cheaper than having a switch to reverse the polarity. The exhaust power isn't regulated by speed but instead has one fan on for low, two for medium and three for high. This is advertised as three speeds, which is totally false. It's one speed and up to three fans active. Stupid. I'm pretty sure this is designed AND assembled by children.I've read that the fans sometimes die and I'd bet my leg that my repair has only marginally delayed this things journey into the tip or the ocean.Meh. I have multiple of these windows fans, bought during summer for airflow, but by 6-12m later every one of them had a problem. On one, an entire fan stopped spinning and became stuck and the second, one fan has a rattle so bad I avoid using it. Alleged 5y warranty but I worry the hoops to jump through will be excessive. Wouldn't buy again if I can find another window fan that fits with a screen.I have bought 3 of these one every year for 3 years. I will NEVER buy another for sure. They are cheap junk, they run fine for a couple or 3 weeks then one fan quits, then the other leaving only one working fan. All 3 I bought did the same thing. DO NOT waste your money! If you were using any other fan before buying this one, you will notice just how quiet this fan is. The 3 fans cool the room quickly and fits vertically really well in the window.
